Visitation

Our goal is to help our congregation to feel valued and to keep up with what is happening in the lives of our church family. We continue to offer visitation in four areas: shut-ins, those who visited our Sunday worship service, those who are in the hospital, and those who have missed at least two Sundays. We meet quarterly to discuss our shared ministry through visitation.

Early Bird coffee

The Early Bird Coffee time on Sunday mornings brings church members and visitors together for a time of fellowship while enjoying coffee and breakfast goodies . Sunday School class members and others in the congregation sign up to bring in delicious sweets, prepare the coffee and do the clean up.. The Kitchen committee assists with buying the coffee and the needed paper products. This year the Early Bird Coffee time will be upstairs and available from 9 am until 10:25 am.

Prayer Shawl

The Prayer Shawl Ministry of Smith Memorial UMC provides prayer shawls, prayer lap blankets and prayer cloths as representations of Christ’s love and presence to persons in need of prayer and comfort. The items are lovingly crafted with prayerful hearts by a group of knitters and crocheters who donate their time, talent and materials to the ministry. The ministry also supports other programs of the church such as Just Call Granny, United Methodist Men and the visitation team by supplying prayer cloths for their use. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month for prayer, crafting and fellowship.

Grief Support Group

Our goal is to establish a group that will offer a place for individuals to share times of difficulty and receive support. We all go through times of difficulty and loss. This group will meet weekly at 6:00 pm. A start up date has not been established yet.  Please look for this ministry March 2018.
