Sunday Mornings
Come as you are. All are welcome here.

What Time Should I Arrive?

Sunday School begins at 9:15 a.m., and worship begins at 10:30 a.m.

Many people begin gathering around 9:00 a.m. for coffee and conversation. Arriving about 10–15 minutes before worship will give you plenty of time to find your way in and get settled.

Where Should I Park?

Our main parking lot is located off John Redd Boulevard. A smaller upper parking lot is available off Daniels Creek Road.

Before Sunday School and worship, you may enter through either:

  • The main entrance beneath the portico
  • The upper entrance beside the upper parking lot

After approximately 10:45 a.m., please use the main entrance beneath the portico.

What Should I Wear?

Come as you are. On Sunday mornings, you will see everything from traditional Sunday clothing to jeans and casual shirts. Wear whatever helps you feel comfortable.

What Is Worship Like?

Our worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. and is available both in person and online.

Worship at Smith Memorial blends traditional Methodist liturgy and prayer with hymns, choir anthems, and contemporary praise music. Some Sundays are led musically by our choir, while others feature our praise team.

A children’s message is included during worship, and Holy Communion is normally celebrated on the first, third, and fifth Sundays of the month.

Are Children Welcome?

Absolutely. We love having children in worship, and a little noise does not bother us.

A wiggle space is available in the sanctuary for children age five and younger. Children are also invited to participate in the children’s message during worship.

Sunday School

We offer Sunday School for elementary-aged children, middle and high school students, and adults. You do not need to know which class is right for you before arriving. Someone will be glad to help you find a place to begin.

Our adult classes include:

Wesley Seekers
An older-adult class using traditional quarterly Sunday School curriculum from Cokesbury.

Latecomers
An adult class using traditional quarterly Sunday School curriculum from Cokesbury.

Newcomers
An adult class that explores books by a variety of authors.

The Gathering
A class for young-ish adults that studies books by a variety of authors.

Accessibility

Accessible parking and entrance options are available. An elevator provides access between levels, and accessible restrooms are available. Please contact us before your visit if there is anything we can do to make your time with us more comfortable.

During the Week

Outside of occasional seasonal breaks, Bible Study and Morning Prayer meet on most Wednesday mornings. We also offer a Monday evening Bible Study for those who prefer an evening gathering. United Women in Faith and United Methodist Men generally meet from September through May.

Because schedules sometimes change, please check our calendar for current meeting times and upcoming events.

For most weekday activities, please use the main entrance off John Redd Boulevard, unless the event information directs you to the upper level.
